The Deans

The Deans are a young blues rock trio from Athenry, Co. Galway , Ireland. The band are rapidly gaining in popularity and they appeal to live audiences of all ages.Their many sell out live performances never leave anyone disappointed. It is not only the audiences who have been wooed by The Deans.

At a sell out gig in London in 2006 renowned Thin Lizzy producer Kit Woolven and Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour turned up to see the band play. They were so impressed Woolven immediately offered to work with The Deans, subsequently, four of Ireland’s biggest guitar and rock legends recorded sessions and played live with the band and instantly spotted the unmistakable genius that will almost certainly catapult them to global acclaim.

Ireland’s veteran of Woodstock, Henry McCullough (Joe Cocker Grease Band, and Paul McCartney’s Wings), said of The Deans after recording with them:

"There's an explosion happening in the town of Athenry which will soon be heard all over the world and it’s called The Deans. I loved every minute of our time together in the recording studio. I felt quite emotional watching Gavin Dean play the Gibson Les Paul that I used with Joe Cocker at Woodstock, the same guitar I used on “My Love” with Paul McCartney".

Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) was also full of high praise after playing with The Deans, he said ,Gavin Dean was like:

"a cross between my old pal Rory Gallagher and an early Johnny Winter, it was a thrill to record with The Deans. They are a breath of fresh air……….no hype, no BS, just raw talent".

Another Irish rock giant Jackie McAuley (Them, Van Morrison, Rick Wakeman) also raved about The Deans, saying:

"Ireland has pulled it off again, we have another rock giant. Gavin plays the blues like a veteran. The sessions we did together will remain with me forever".

The Deans also recorded and played with Horslips legend Johnny Fean who was also hugely impressed by the young teenagers, he enthused:

"Gavin Dean is the real deal, a true prodigy. The Deans have everything they need to take on the world. Their album is in my car with Hendrix, Clapton and Jeff Beck.......need I say any more?”
